Treatment of textile dye wastewater by peroxymonosulfate activation using facilely prepared Fe<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub>@TiO<sub>2</sub> heterogeneous photocatalyst

Abstract In this study, Fe 3 O 4 @TiO 2 was synthesized by a facile precipitation–impregnation method and applied as magnetic photocatalyst for degrading synthetic actual textile dyeing wastewater in the presence of peroxymonosulfate (PMS). Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation, removal efficiency reached 99.86% (for RhB) 93.67% color) under optimal operating conditions 80 mg L –1 RhB, 0.5 g PMS, , at pH 6, after 30 min UVA irradiation. The influence levels anions on RhB decolorization were order Cl − &lt; SO 2− CO PO 3− . addition, composite exhibited good applicability treating other dyes (e.g., 99.6% tartrazine 60.3% methylene blue min) water with high color (70.3% 5 COD (71.4% 120 min). radical scavenging tests indicated role reactive oxygen species •− ∼ 1 &gt; h + HO • degradation but decolorization.
